Bet you never gave protection and safety a thought when buying a pair of sunglasses
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A PAIR OF SUNGLASSES?

Did you ever ponder the thought , whats so important about what type of sunglasses you purchase?
Well believe it or not unprotected sun exposure can cause major damage to your eyes. Certain sun rays can burn the surface of the eye that can cause a temporary condition called PHOTOKERATITIS. Over time unprotected sunlight exposure can also cause cataracts as well as cancer of the eyelids and to the skin surrounding the eyes. UV exposure can also increase your chances of developing MACULAR DEGENERATION, the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 65. When sunglasses shopping look for labels indicating 98% UV protection or that it blocks 98% of UV or UVB rays. If there is no label or it says something like UV absorbing or blocks most UV light, don't buy them. for ultimate protection look for sunglasses that block all UV radiation which is 400 nanometers, which would block 100% of UV harmful rays. your sunglasses should cover the sides of your eyes to prevent any stray light from entering ,close fitting large lenses are best. A good and safe pair of glasses need not be expensive . follow these few simple rules and and have fun in the sun !
